Games: The Official Halo 2 Topic [OT!]

Yea, Bungie released that information.

New Mombasa to be exact. It was what was shown at the E3 03 trailer.

Well, undoubtedly you both know that Bungie have no plans for a Halo 3, at least not right now; but instead they're putting their ideas towards another project. This is good news, it means they've put everything they've got into this game, and arent immediately trying to improve or continue it.
It also makes me wonder what else they'll pull out of their sleeve in a few years time. Maybe they'll make an RTS like they originally intended with Halo?

I just hope they don't sell it to some shitty FPS publisher (read EA Games* or anyone else for that matter) and they end up ruining the series. However I think Bungie said that they had 100+ years of Halo future, so maybe they'll sell the Bible as a book or maybe they aren't saying this just so people don't get annoying with the questions. I could see either case happening. Once they are 75%+ done with Halo 3 they announce it, just so people don't have a shit fit over it. (Wow, that last part rhymed.)

*Think their Bond games, and the latest Medal of Honor, hell ever Frontline didn't match up to Halo.

Your right. Everything you said there i totally agree with.
Maybe when the Xbox Next is released, they'll have Halo 3 ready as a launch title or something. At least, i feel thats what Microsoft would want them to do, since the original was the saviour of the Xbox. Im also hearing that the XBN wont be backward compatible, due to copyright issues with Nvidia and their Geforce graphics card property.

Edit: Ive just logged on to XBC. And im very disappointed to see players there with the game description "Halo 2 only!!! lolol". Im not sure if reporting it will make a difference, i suspect many people already have done, but its worth a try.

Look at it this way. The tunneling system was wrote for Halo, Halo 2's code was made from nothing. That means they'd have to write a different tunneling system for it to work. St00pid n00bs.

Actually, it relies on a simple ethernet-ADSL/cable routing system, which can play any link play xbox game, even when your on a completely different game server. It isnt customized for Halo, and in this respect, Halo 2 can be played just as easily as its original, requiring no extra programming. Unfortunately, on the PAL filter on XBC, about a third of the players have "Halo2" in their names, and about a sixth of XBC users actually have the game and are ready to play.
Ive been asking around with these people where they got it from, and it all links to this one torrent site (which im sure many torrenters here will know quite well for being so supr). I cant post the name here, but sadly, there are 60 seeders, and over 600 leechers for the torrent, which usually consititutes around a third of the actual owners of the file. I can only hope this is a dummy file set up by Microsoft.

Im enjoying the prospect of downloadable content! It sounds like there will be endless potential, thanks to the sheer size of the HDD installed in the Xbox. Imagine it; a new level every month or so, maybe new mods, like weapons, vehicles and game modes, just like with the PC version.
